Record
In June 2018 the Supreme Court's Second Panel acquitted her, by 3 votes to 2, in a Car Wash case over R$1 million allegedly received for her 2010 campaign. Two justices, led by the rapporteur, would have convicted her of electoral false declaration. The majority held that the case rested on plea-deal testimony without independent corroboration. After the July 2024 PT note on Venezuela, the Lula government asked Venezuela to publish the vote tallies by polling station.
Supporters credit her with leading the PT through its comeback and with pushing the income tax exemption. Critics charge that she sided with the Maduro government in 2024, and a wing of the PT was uneasy with the note she shared.
