Privacy policy

Political opinions are sensitive. Like a secret ballot, your answers stay yours. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect and why.

The short version

  • You can take the test and see your full result without an account or an email address.
  • Your individual answers are stored only if you tick the optional research box. It is unticked by default.
  • We never sell your answers, your results or your email address.
  • Result links and share images contain your 12 scores only, never your answers or who you are.
  • Accounts and emails are optional. An account never makes anything public.

Taking the test

When you finish the test, we record your 12 axis scores, the length you chose, your language, when you started, how long it took, your country (from Cloudflare, see below) and basic referral information such as the page or campaign that brought you here. This is not linked to your name or email. Your matches (ideologies, figures and countries) are worked out from the scores when the page loads and are not stored.

If you opt in to research, we also store your answer to each statement, without your name. We use these answers only in aggregate, to check that statements are clear and balanced. Saying no changes nothing about your result.

Progress while you take the test is kept in your own browser (local storage), so a refresh does not lose your place. It is removed when you finish.

Special category data

Under the GDPR, political opinions are a special category of personal data. We store your individual answers, and any result linked to an email address or account, only on the basis of your explicit consent. You can refuse it, and withdraw it at any time by writing to .

Sharing and compare links

Share buttons are plain links to WhatsApp, X, Reddit, Facebook and Telegram. We load no code, widgets or tracking pixels from those services, and nothing is sent to them unless you tap a button. Shared links carry a campaign tag (such as utm_source=whatsapp) so we can count which channel brought a visit. When you tap a share button we count the tap (channel, language, device type, country) with a random key that is not linked to you or your result. A compare link holds your scores only, never your name, email or answers, and the page it opens is not listed in search engines.

Email

"Email me my result" needs your explicit consent first: a separate, unticked box that you tick yourself. We then send one email with your result link and a button to save it. Until you press that button, nothing goes into our database: your address and result travel only inside the encrypted button link. We use Resend to send email.

  • When you press the button, we store your email address, the result, your language, your country (never your IP address) and when you asked and confirmed. If accounts are switched on, the result is saved to a private account for that address.
  • Marketing email (occasional news about the test) only if you also tick a second, optional box. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Accounts

Accounts are optional and private. There are no public profiles, usernames or feeds.

  • What we store: your email address, your name if Google sends one, when you signed up, and your sign-in sessions.
  • Saved results: a result is linked to your account only when you press save, and we record when you gave that consent. A result saved from a shared link stores its scores only.
  • Sign-in by email: a one-time link sent through Resend that expires after 15 minutes. Sign-in with Google, where offered, gives us your email address and name only. We do not keep Google's access tokens.
  • Export and deletion: one click on the account page downloads everything linked to your account, and one click deletes the account, its sessions and every saved result for good.

Cloudflare and share images

The site runs behind Cloudflare, which protects it and caches pages. Cloudflare tells us which country a visit comes from; we store the country with a result, never your IP address. Cached pages are the same for everyone and contain no personal data. Share images are drawn from your scores and may be kept in Cloudflare R2 storage so they do not have to be drawn again. They hold only scores and match names, and are identical for everyone with the same scores.

Analytics

If product analytics is switched on, we use PostHog (EU Cloud) in cookieless mode, loaded from our own domain. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser; visits are grouped with a hash that changes every day, and your IP address is discarded. It receives page paths without query strings (campaign tags excepted), country, browser, device type and a few named events such as "test started" and "test completed". It never receives your answers, scores, result or email. There is no session recording. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, PostHog is not loaded at all. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the site.

Cookies

The site works without cookies. The only cookie we set is the sign-in cookie, and only if you sign in. It keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. There are no ads and no third-party trackers.

How long we keep data

  • Result scores and research answers: kept for research while the test runs, never linked to your identity.
  • Email address and email preferences: until you unsubscribe, delete your account or ask us to delete them.
  • A results email whose button was never pressed: nothing is stored. The link stops working after 7 days.
  • Accounts and saved results: until you delete your account. Sessions expire after 30 days.
  • Server logs: a few days, for security and fixing errors.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to withdraw consent, and to object to how we use it. Write to . Because results without an account are not linked to your identity, we may need the result link or the email address you used to find them. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

We will update this page when our practices change and note the date of the latest revision here.
