Record
Her ministry and Senate work centre on children, family and the right to life. In October 2022 she said at a church service in Goiânia that children were being abused in Marajó. Federal prosecutors in Pará replied that no complaint in 30 years had mentioned torture of the kind she described, and in September 2023 they sued her and the Union for R$ 5 million; the case was filed before a federal court in Belém and no ruling was found in the sources reviewed. She said she did not lie and would answer in court filings. Supporters credit her with pushing child-protection laws, and critics, including federal prosecutors, charge that her Marajó claims lacked support.
